TNEB Recruitment 2026 will open for 20,449 vacancies in Tamil Nadu Power Sector
Tamil Nadu Electricity Board is slated to launch a major recruitment exercise with 20,449 vacancies advertised in various power sector organizations in the state. The recruitment notification is scheduled for July 2026 through the official website, and online applications are expected to start in August 2026.The announcement has been made by Tamil Nadu Energy Resources and Law Minister CTR Nirmal Kumar who stated that the vacancies would be filled in various categories such as Assistant Engineer, Technical Assistant, Multipurpose Field Assistant and Gangman. Candidates seeking updates on the recruitment process have been advised to keep a regular check on the official portal.Vacancies advertised in various categoriesAs per the announced vacancy details, a total of 15,058 posts come in the new recruitment cycle for 2026-27. The largest share has been allocated to multipurpose field assistant posts, including assessor posts, with 12,500 vacancies.Other vacancies notified include 945 posts of Assistant Technical (Electrical), 516 posts of Assistant Engineer (Electrical), 435 posts of Junior Assistant (Accounts), 212 posts of Assistant Engineer (Mechanical), 203 posts of Assistant Technical (Mechanical), 111 posts of Assistant Engineer (Civil 2) and 4 posts of Assistant Chemical Tester, Accounts 4 Officer positions.An additional 5,391 Gangman positions relate to previously selected candidates and are awaiting financial approval, bringing the grand total to 20,449 vacancies.TNEB Recruitment 2026: Details of the vacancy
The positions of Assistant Engineer and Technical Assistant are detailedThe recruitment campaign includes 839 assistant engineer vacancies in three disciplines. Of these, 516 places are in Electrical Engineering, 212 in Mechanical Engineering and 111 in Civil Engineering.The recruitment of technical assistants will cover 1,148 places. The Electrical sector has 945 vacancies, while the Mechanical sector has 203 vacancies.Planned hiring in all organizations in the electricity sectorSeparate procurement plans have also been announced for major state power sector entities. Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited is expected to fill 7851 vacancies. The state government has indicated that it is expected to fill these posts during the current year.Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited has announced plans to hire approximately 1,420 people at various locations. Detailed category-wise information is expected with the release of the notification.Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited has approved 3075 vacancies for recruitment.The selection process for the notified posts is expected to include written examination, document verification and interview or skill test, depending on the post. Eligibility requirements, reservation details, application procedures and category-wise vacancy distribution will be released with official notification in July 2026.
