POSCO case against Tamil Nadu education minister over video showing him touching female athletes’ legs
A POSCO case was registered after a video showing Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister P Viswanathan touching the outstretched legs of sportspersons while talking to them at an event in Melur, Madurai sparked outrage on social media.The authenticity of the viral video has not been independently verified. The athletes were reportedly resting after participating in a marathon organized as part of the birthday celebrations of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The event was held at the Melur Government School, where the prizes were distributed to the participants.The video shows Viswanathan greeting the athletes after the prize distribution ceremony. In the footage, he can be seen touching the outstretched legs of some of the athletes and snapping their toes while talking to them. Reacting to the controversy, DMK lawyer Saranya Natarajan called the minister’s behavior inappropriate and demanded his resignation.“Viswanathan’s behavior with children was inappropriate, we registered a POCSO case; he should resign,” Natarajan said.
