National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and Center of Excellence in Basic Sciences, Department of Atomic Energy, University of Bombay (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai, have declared the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2026 result.Candidates who appeared for the entrance exam can now check their results and merit rankings through the official website, nestexam.in.To access NEST 2026 Result, candidates will have to login with application number, date of birth (as mentioned in admit card) and captcha code.Earlier, the authorities had released the final answer key for NEST 2026 on June 17.

How to Check NEST 2026 Result

Candidates can follow the steps given below to download their mark sheets:

  • Visit the official website at nestexam.in.
  • Click on the link that says “NEST RESULT 2026 – Check Your Merit Rank”.
  • Enter your application number, date of birth and captcha code.
  • Click the submit button.
  • Your result will appear on the screen.
  • Download the scorecard and save it for future use.
  • Take a printout for future reference.

NEST 2026 exam details

The NEST 2026 exam was conducted in computer mode on June 6 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in 140 exam centers across the country.NEST serves as an entrance exam for admission to the five-year Master of Science (MSc) program offered by NISER and UM-DAE CEBS.

Availability of places

There are a total of 261 seats available through NEST 2026 tickets.The distribution of seats is as follows:

  • National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar: 202 seats
  • University of Bombay – Department of Atomic Energy Center of Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai: 59 seats

About NEST

NEST is a mandatory computer-based entrance test for students seeking admission to integrated master’s programs offered by NISER and UM-DAE CEBS.Both the institutions are autonomous organizations established by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, in the year 2007. Admissions are offered on the basis of the candidates’ performance in the NEST examination and the merit list prepared by the participating institutes.Candidates are advised to check their results carefully and keep a copy of the scorecard for use during the admission and counseling process.
