First Trailer Released For Robert Eggers’ ‘Werewulf’ Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson |
Robert Eggers unveiled the first trailer for his latest feature, ‘Werewulf’, which will hit theaters on December 25. The film also includes the cast and director from the Christmas 2024 production of ‘Nosferatu’.In the new trailer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as a mysterious creature who faces a crisis that causes fear among the villagers.The film is set in England in the 1300s, where the foggy countryside is the setting for a creature that blurs the lines between myth and terrifying reality. Taylor-Johnson reunites with director Eggers and her co-stars Lily-Rose Deppwith whom he starred in ‘Nosferatu’. Willem Dafoe and Ralph Ineson and returning from the vampire film for a new Gothic Horror venture.

The entire cast continues to be ‘Nosferatu’ alumni, with Jack Morris, Jan Bijvoet, Ritchi Edwards and Bodhi Rae Breathnach also starring in the production.
Eggers produced a unique voice in the horror genre throughout his career. After ‘Nosferatu’ and the upcoming ‘Werewulf’, he previously directed ‘The Northman’, a short film that combined historical drama with elements of mythological horror. In his first novel, ‘The Witch,’ he featured Anya Taylor-Joy and Ralph Ineson in a haunting exploration of colonial American anxieties and spiritual fears.According to Variety, in 2019 Eggers directed ‘The Lighthouse’, a psychological horror film starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe, which became popular for its atmospheric cinematography and disturbing story. His ability to recreate historical events and add visceral horror has made him one of the most admired filmmakers working in horror today.
