Did you score less in CUET 2026 result? Here’s what to do next
The declaration of CUET UG 2026 results may have brought relief to many candidates but not everyone would have got the scores they expected. However, a lower than expected score does not necessarily end the admission journey as the National Testing Agency (NTA) only conducts the exam and issues score cards. Admissions are made separately by participating universities based on their own merit lists and counseling processes. With the results available, candidates should focus on the next stage of the admissions cycle rather than drawing conclusions solely from their scores. CUET score is accepted by central, state, deemed and private universities participating in the admission process for the academic session 2026-27.Wait for the college merit listsThe NTA does not publish admission cut-offs or merit lists. Each participating university will announce its own admission criteria by courses and categories and counseling schedule. A score that may not be sufficient for one institution or program may still meet the requirements of another university. Candidates should regularly check the admission portals of the institutions they have applied to for updates on registrations, counseling and seat allotment.Apply to multiple participating universitiesCandidates are not restricted to a single institution after the results. As more than 240 universities are participating in CUET UG 2026, applicants can consider various options based on their score, preferred course and eligibility. Applying to a wider range of colleges can improve your admission prospects during subsequent counseling rounds.Keep documents ready for adviceCandidates must download and keep their CUET UG Score Card and keep the supporting documents like Class 10 & 12 Mark Sheets, Category Certificates, Identity Proof and other required records ready. Universities will specify document verification requirements during their counseling process. Missing deadlines or incomplete documentation can affect your chances of admission.Keep a close eye on admission schedulesCounseling records, merit lists and seat allotment schedules will be released by different universities independently. Candidates should monitor the official college websites instead of relying on a single admission calendar. Those who are not allocated a place in the initial tests, will have to continue with the subsequent rounds, in accordance with the admission process of the respective university.
