DHR invites applications for overseas scholarships – see full details here
The Department of Health Research (DHR), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has opened applications for its overseas scholarship program for the academic year 2026-27.Offered under the Human Resource Development (HRD) programme, the fellowship program aims to help Indian researchers obtain advanced training and exposure to the latest developments in health, biomedical and clinical sciences through collaboration with leading international institutions and scientists.According to DHR, the program is intended for Indian researchers, teachers, scientists and health professionals seeking specialized training and research experience in emerging areas of health and biomedical sciences.The scholarship program has two categories. Under the Short Term Abroad Scholarship, selected candidates can undergo training for a period ranging from 15 days to three months. Applicants must be under 57 years of age on the last date of submission of applications.The Long-Term Scholarship Abroad offers training opportunities of between six and 12 months. Candidates applying for this category must be under 45 years of age by the application deadline.
DHR Scholarship Abroad: How to Apply
Applications must be submitted online through the ICMR Scholarship Portal.Interested candidates can check the detailed eligibility criteria, application formats, terms and conditions and others guidelines on the DHR website.The last date to submit applications is 30 June 2026 at 5 PM IST. Applicants are advised to verify the details on the official website before applying.DHR has also clarified that the selection process is competitive. Application to a specific international institute does not guarantee selection for the scholarship. In addition, the department noted that HR scheme grants are subject to regular reviews of progress and the availability of funds.
