Registration for AILET 2027 opens on August 7, exam on December 13; NLU Delhi announces admission schedule

The National Law University (NLU) Delhi has released the complete schedule for AILET 2027, with the application process starting on August 7 and the entrance test scheduled for December 13. The university has also outlined the eligibility criteria, category-wise application fees and exam pattern, highlighting the key differences between AILET and CLAT for aspiring law students.

The National Law University (NLU) has announced the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2027 schedule. The university will conduct the entrance exam on 13 December 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM while the online application process will open on 7 August 2026. Candidates seeking admission to NLU Delhi’s BA LLB (Hons), LLM and PhD programs for the academic session 2027-28 will be able to submit their applications through the university’s official registration portal once the process begins. Unlike the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), there is no separate section in AILET for Legal Reasoning and Quantitative Techniques. However, it is possible to include some legal concepts in the Logical Reasoning section in order to test the candidate’s problem-solving skills.The AILET exam will be offline and candidates will have two hours to solve all the problems. Candidates applying for the five-year BA LLB (Hons) program must have passed or appeared in the Class 12 examination of a recognized board. The minimum qualifying marks are, general category for 45 percent, SC, ST and Persons with Disabilities (PwD).

AILET 2027 Exam Pattern: How it differs from CLAT

Unlike the CLAT, AILET does not have separate sections for Legal Reasoning or Quantitative Techniques. However, legal principles may be incorporated into the logical reasoning section to assess a candidate’s analytical and problem-solving skills.The exam will be conducted in offline mode (pencil and paper) and candidates will have 120 minutes to answer all the questions.

AILET 2027 exam: Fee structure

AILET 2027 application fee has been fixed at Rs 3,500 for candidates belonging to General, OBC, EWS and Foreign Nationals categories. Candidates from SC, ST and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories have to pay Rs 1,500, while SC/ST candidates belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) category are exempted from paying any application fee.
