After months of uncertainty, ‘Jana Nayagan’ is finally set to release worldwide on July 23. The film, starring. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay in what is expected to be his last film before his full-time political tour, is slated for a Pongal release. However, the project was stuck for almost six months due to delays in obtaining its inspection certificate. With the release date set, director H Vinoth has come out with an insight into the various hurdles his team faced that delayed the film, how the hurdles were overcome, and how to deal with the controversy surrounding the film’s release.
H Vinoth will reveal why the release of ‘Jana Nayagan’ was delayed
Speaking about the screening process in an interview with Cinema Vikatan, H Vinoth said that the panel started the certification process much earlier than usual. “Normally, we start the review process 10 days before the release. This time, we started about 20 days in advance. The board checked the film immediately and told us that there was no problem with the film itself. They agreed to give us a U/A 16+ certificate if we removed a few violent scenes. We accepted their ideas and started making changes,” he said.The director explained that the changes affected the CGI work, which required an extra day. “After completing this change, we came back with a revised plan. At that time, we were asked to make a few changes. We also agreed with the same. But when we tried to upload the revised plan, we could not find the social network. We informed them through phone and emails and even communicated with the head office,” added Vinoth.

According to H. Vinoththe group later realized that the film had been given away, causing the project to be shelved. “We were told that the portal was closed due to the complaint received by the film. At that time, theaters, distributors and fans had already spent a lot of money preparing for the release. We had to answer to everyone, but we ourselves did not know whether the film would receive its license or not,” he said.He added that the group decided to go to court only after repeated efforts to clarify the situation failed. “We have not received an approval or denial. Only when writing the case we got the answer that the film will be reviewed. I believe that the problem has not been with the Censor Board. There may be other reasons that have caused the delay, but without evidence, I cannot name anyone. The law has its own power, and I do not want to report cases without evidence,” said H Vinoth.

Apart from the censor delay, H Vinoth also opened up about the film’s debacle and explained why Vijay chose not to act publicly. “Vijay sir didn’t send the tweet because it would have turned into unnecessary criticism. We caught him legally, we found the person responsible, and now he is in jail. Bail has not been given,” said the director. He also explained that the leak was only taken as a legal matter and the police investigated them after filing a complaint. “I think Vijay’s boss didn’t take any action because it might have distorted the story and caused criticism,” added Vinoth. With the critical issues and diplomatic tussles now behind them, ‘Jana Nayagan’ is all set to release on July 23, as fans wait to see Vijay’s last film on the big screen.
