Veteran actress Dame Penelope Keith, best known for her role on the long-running sitcom ‘The Good Life’, has died, the BBC has reported. His family confirmed the news to the public in a statement and revealed that he has been suffering from cancer for a long time. Their statement read: “We are saddened to announce that Dame Penelope Keith has passed away peacefully from cancer at her Surrey home of over 50 years. The family appreciates the care and support she received throughout her treatment, and asks that their privacy be respected during this time. “Blessings returned to the veteran artist after it was announced that he had passed away. The report said that Felicity Kendallco-star in ‘The Good Life’, called him a “comic genius” and said he was very happy to work with him. He added, “The shows I worked on with him were a very special time in our lives and showcased his comedic skills. My heart goes out to his beloved Rodney at this time; their story was one of great love and collaboration. He was a joy to know and work with, and he will be greatly missed.”Comedian and presenter Sue Perkins took to her Instagram account to share her tribute to the veteran actor, writing that Keith is “one of the greatest sitcom creators of all time.” Alongside this, former culture secretary Sir Jeremy Hunt also wrote on his website: “Deeply saddened to hear of the death of Dame Penelope Keith CBE. He was a neighbor and friend who was much loved by all who knew him in Milford. He helped Britain laugh at itself, one of our nation’s greatest virtues, and brought joy to millions. RIP dear Penny.”

Keith was born in Surrey, and started acting as a child. He started in theatre, and was part of the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1963. He did a variety of roles before moving to television. She starred as Margo in “The Good Life”, and won a BAFTA award. Over the years, the show has been recognized as one of the best and most watched shows on television.
