India’s Commonwealth Games 2026 campaign enters another exciting day on Thursday, July 30, with the Olympic and world champions Neeraj Chopra is finally set to make his long-awaited appearance in the men’s javelin throw. After an impressive medal haul in the first week, India will once again have plenty of opportunities to add to its tally, with medals lined up in athletics and weightlifting.Apart from Neeraj’s return, all eyes will also be on Tejaswin Shankar, who begins his grueling decathlon campaign, while Indian weightlifters Martina Devi Maibam and Lovepreet Singh will compete for a podium finish.

Neeraj Chopra is the headline of the day in India

The biggest attraction of the day was undoubtedly Neeraj Chopra, who began his campaign in the men’s javelin throw qualification alongside fellow Indians Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh. Fans will be eager to see the reigning Olympic champion begin his quest for another major international medal.

Weightlifters Martina Devi Maibam (Women’s 86+kg) and Lovepreet Singh (Men’s 110+kg) will participate in their respective finals, while athletics will provide medal opportunities in the men’s shot put, women’s discus throw, and women’s 5000m.Meanwhile, Tejaswin Shankar will be in action in five decathlon events throughout the day.
