It’s easy to say this but working on SNL has been the greatest privilege of my life. I still can’t believe I got to be a part of it. I fell in love with the place the moment I walked through the door,” Fineman wrote in a statement, before adding how he was surrounded by “the best people in the business. From working on visual effects (VFX) to sewing costumes at the 11th hour, Fineman recalled the time he spent writing the cartoon. “Sewing Jojo Siwa’s clothes in 10 hours. Writing the opening credits at 2pm on a Saturday. Finishing the VFX of the video minutes before getting dressed (I don’t know if “finishing the VFX” is the right technical term but you get the idea),” he shared.Fineman also wrote about his frustration when producers criticized his drawings. Looking back, the artist now agrees with their decision, and said that the practice called ‘Lipstick for thick dogs’ should be banned. “You cry inconsolably when your painting is not selected. You walk into a producer’s office and tell them they just made the biggest mistake of their lives. You call everyone you know to complain. And then you look back a few years later and it was a show called ‘lipstick for big dogs,'” he said, and continued, “But it’s just a show.”Concluding the letter, Fineman shared, “It’s really hard to leave SNL but it feels like the right time. I’m going to miss it a lot. But the people who work there are my family and that place is my home, and I know I won’t be away too long.” And I swear to God, one day, sometime in the future, they WILL make thicc dogs’ lips.”
