A year later “Saiyaara” emerged as one of the most popular in Indian cinema and turned around No Panday and I Padda in the stars of the night, this movie is back for some reason. Songwriter Tanishk Bagchi is said to be still waiting for a royalty payment of Rs 8 lakh for the title of the film despite its huge success on music platforms. The author took to Instagram to elaborate, saying that the story was not meant to empathize with people but to highlight the importance of music production.Remembering his experiences at work Mohit Suri Directorial, Tanishk revealed that ‘Saiyaara’ has signed his first contract YRF YRF Entertainment and Music. According to him, he accepted the project because he believes in his music and dedicated himself to bring the song.“This was my first film with @yrfentertainment @yrfmusic … I agreed with everything because I believe in music. I gave this song everything I had. From production to production, working with musicians and singers, recording, listening to the voice, sound, arrangement of everything that was important to me. I took it as if it was mine. Everything that YRF paid me and the remaining money that was left … Zero. Yes, that’s what I got from the biggest song,” he wrote.Tanishk added, “What hurts the most is that, according to royalty, I would have still received Rs 8 lakhs for a song that has gone on to generate millions of views on platforms. Honestly, because of the amount of work, time and passion I put into this song, Rs 8 lakhs I believe I earned a lot of money for this song. A lot.”
YRF responds to Tanishk Bagchi’s comments
Following Tanishk Bagchi’s post on TV, Yash Raj Films issued a statement regarding the writer’s comments on the ‘Saiyaara’ genre.A spokesperson for YRF said, “Saiyaara’s theme song was a beautiful collaboration between three singers ( Tanishk Bagchi along with Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami ) We are grateful for their ingenuity in creating a timeless song that has touched the hearts of millions. The royalties of the song were and will continue to be shared by YRF equally among all the three writers as agreed upon by all, including Tanishk. YRF has paid each employee what they are required to, according to the contract, all within the agreed time frames. “The statement comes after Tanishk said that he is yet to receive Rs 8 lakh in royalty for the top title. YRF, however, maintained that all payments have been made in accordance with the company agreement signed by all three underwriters and that future payments will continue to be shared equally as stipulated in the agreement.

The composer made it clear that his story was not meant to sympathize but to shed light on the reality that musicians face in successful careers.“I’m not writing this out of pity. I’m writing this because I know what I’m putting into this song, and I know the sacrifices I made to live… My experience has changed the way I see this industry. From now on, I will only work with producers and directors who value creativity, integrity and the people who build their music,” he wrote.Reflecting on the success of the film, he added, “One thing I have learned is that sometimes you give your all to people, and when success comes, they forget those who stood with them. The theme song of ‘Saiyaara’ was composed by Tanishk Bagchi along with Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami. Written by Irshad Kamil and sung by Faheem Abdullah, the song became one of the biggest chartbusters of the year.Released in July last year, “Saiyaara” collected Rs 577 crore worldwide, making it the highest-grossing romantic film in Indian cinema and one of the highest-grossing blockbusters of the year. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film featured Ahaan Panday in his Bollywood debut alongside Aneet Padda in her debut role.
