NEW DELHI: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has announced the selection results for more than 460 vacant faculty posts in more than 50 disciplines. The appointments cover positions ranging from Assistant Professor to Professor at AIIMS New Delhi and AIIMS Central Armed Police Forces Institute of Medical Sciences (CAPFIMS) campus at Maidan Garhi, New Delhi.The recruitment exercise was conducted over a period of six months and incorporated digital blockchain technology to safeguard confidentiality and maintain transparency throughout the selection process. According to AIIMS, the technology-driven system enabled preparation of the final merit list with minimal manual involvement while supporting timely declaration of results.The recruitment filled hundreds of teaching vacanciesThe recruitment process included 265 faculty posts at AIIMS New Delhi and 199 posts at the AIIMS-CAPFIMS campus. More than 3,200 candidates applied for these positions spanning more than 50 academic and clinical disciplines.Vacancies included appointments at various academic levels, beginning with assistant professors and expanding to full professors. The exercise is among the biggest teacher recruitment drives undertaken by the institution in recent years, and covers a wide range of teaching and health specialisations.Blockchain technology used during the selection processAIIMS stated that blockchain digital technology was integrated into the recruitment process to ensure confidentiality and transparency. As part of the system, candidates’ marks were digitally locked with one-time passwords to protect the integrity of assessment records.The institution said the final merit list was generated by software using the secured marks along with predefined algorithms. No human intervention was involved in the preparation of the merit list, except in cases where ties had to be resolved. The automated process also facilitated faster declaration of selection results.Faculty appointments are expected to strengthen institutional capacityAccording to AIIMS, the recruitment is expected to improve faculty availability at participating institutions. The appointments will support academic departments at both AIIMS New Delhi and the AIIMS-CAPFIMS campus.The institute stated that the addition of new faculty is expected to strengthen patient care services, teaching activities and research at the institutions. With the completion of the recruitment process and the declaration of results, the selected candidates will fill long-term vacancies in a wide range of disciplines, adding to the academic and clinical staff of both campuses.
