Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor’s broken relationship continues to be one of the most talked about relationships in Bollywood. While neither the Bachchan nor the Kapoor family have confirmed the exact reason behind the break-up, senior journalist Jyothi Venkatesh has now revealed what she says is one of the main reasons behind the end of the marriage.Speaking to Hindi Rush, Venkatesh reviewed the much talked about news and speculations surrounding his sudden demise.
‘One of the main reasons was the marriage contract’
Recalling the incident, Jyothi Venkatesh said that even though Abhishek and Karisma got married, their marriage continued to be put on hold before it ended.“Karishma ke aur Abhishek ki engagement bhi ho gayi thi. To engagement ke baad shaadi ka din postpone hote gaya. In the end they didn’t get married.”When asked why the marriage didn’t take place, he replied, “Kai sikko log dete hain. One of the main reasons was…Babita was against the marriage.”He continued to say, “Humne bhi suna hua tha. Prenuptial agreement sign karne ke liye majboor kiya tha mujhe.”Explaining this point, he added, “Foreign mein woh agreement sign karte the before wedding… jiski wajah se all the property will go to the bride. If it is left, the marriage was terminated.”Venkatesh also said that the Bachchan and Kapoor families shared a good relationship before they started dating.“Bachchan family aur Kapoor family ke relation bahut strong rahe hain. Usi wajah se woh rishton ko aur strong banana chahte the towards marriage.”
The courtship lasted only a few months
Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor announced their engagement in October 2002 at Amitabh Bachchan’s 60th birthday. However, the engagement ended a few months before it ended in January 2003.Over the years, several media reports have speculated about the reasons behind the split. Another popular theory is that Karisma’s mother, Babita, wanted her daughter to stay away from marriage and to protect money, out of concern about the state of the Bachchan family at the time. However, neither the Bachchan family nor the Kapoor family have officially confirmed this or explained the exact reason behind the breakup.Then both continued with their lives. Abhishek Bachchan married Aishwarya Rai on April 20, 2007, and the couple welcomed their daughter Aaradhya. Karisma Kapoor married businessman Sunjay Kapur in September 2003. They had two children—Samaira and Kiaan—before their marriage ended in divorce in 2016. Karisma has previously said that part of her life was very sad.
