Matt Damon revealed that he wanted to work with Shekhar Kapur on ‘Four Feathers’ (2002) but missed out, possibly because of his commitment to Jason Bourne. Speaking at ‘The Odyssey’ Mumbai event, he called it a “20-year debt” that he still carries. He plays Odysseus in ‘The Odyssey’, alongside Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland and others.

Decades later, a Hollywood star Matt Damon he’s still looking back at the opportunity to get the job he’s been dreaming of: working with a famous filmmaker Shekhar Kapur on ‘Four Feathers’, released in 2002. Speaking at ‘The Odyssey’ event in Mumbai on Saturday, July 11, Damon revealed that Kapur has become his favorite director and wanted to work with him.

When asked to name an Indian filmmaker he would love to work with, Matt pointed to Shekhar Kapur. “The first filmmaker that everyone wanted to work with was Shekhar Kapur,” he said, adding that he was “very disappointed” when he couldn’t be part of “Four Feathers”. He also said that his previous commitment to the Jason Bourne franchise was probably what kept him from taking the role. “I think I signed up for a Jason Bourne movie,” he said.

Despite missing out on the project, Damon revealed that his desire to work with Kapur has not faded. “I think it’s always been on my list, so I want to go somewhere else. It’s like a 20-year debt that I’ve been carrying in my body. That’s it,” he added.

Based on Homer’s poem, ‘The Odyssey’ depicts the long, treacherous journey of Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca. Matt Damon takes on the role of Odysseus, and Anne Hathaway playing Penelope. The film also stars Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron.
