Children fall from moving school van in Bengaluru after back door opens: Video

Five school children were thrown out of a moving private school van after its rear door was thrown open midway near Gayathri Layout in KR Pura, Bengaluru on Friday morning. Three children were injured in the incident. The children were sitting in the back of the van when the back door was thrown open, causing them to fall onto the road. Fortunately, there was no vehicle coming from behind at the time, which prevented what could have been a much more serious accident. The van was later seized by the traffic police. The initial suspicion is that the rear door had not been properly closed before the vehicle began its journey. The exact circumstances of the incident are being investigated.Earlier this year, an overloaded auto-rickshaw carrying more than 10 school children overturned on Harmu Road in Jharkhand. However, no children were seriously injured.People on social media pointed to the common practice of carrying more children than the permitted capacity and questioned whether enough checks are carried out on school transport vehicles.“In India, a school van that seats 10 kids will carry 20 kids, putting their lives at risk. I have yet to see these vans challenged by the police,” someone wrote on X.
