Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) will close the registration process for Special Tax Constable Recruitment 2026 today 24th June. Candidates who have not yet applied for the recruitment drive can complete the application process through the official website, upsssc.gov.in.The recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 722 posts of Excise Officer in the Office of the Commissioner of Excise, Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj. Candidates applying for the posts must have appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2025 and have a valid PET Score Card.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants should have passed Intermediate (Class 12) or equivalent examination from Uttar Pradesh Board or any other recognized board.As per the notification, the age of candidates should be between 18 to 40 years as on 1st July 2026. Age relaxation will be provided to reserved category candidates and eligible state government employees as per government rules.During the recruitment process, preference will be given to candidates who have an NCC B certificate and who have completed two years of service in the Territorial Army.

A total of 722 vacancies have been announced. The distribution of publications by category is as follows:
- General: 292 publications
- Scheduled Caste (SC): 142 messages
- Scheduled Tribe (ST): 12 publications
- Other Backward Class (OBC): 215 publications
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 61 publications
Selection process
The selection process will be carried out in several stages. Candidates will be shortlisted first based on their PET-2025 scores. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear in the main written examination.Those who clear the written test will be called for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) before final selection.
