After more than ten years in the film industry, Huma Qureshi he believes he has finally reached the point where he can mold his work to his wishes. The actor, who has been in cinema for 12 years, says he is now confident enough to bring his creativity to every project he does. This month, Huma not only produced but also directed the heartwarming song ‘Baby Do Die Do’. She will next be seen in Geethu Mohandas’ drama ‘Toxic’, starring Kannada star Yash. Calling the film a unique experience, he says, “It’s a crazy, different world.”Looking back on her early years, Huma admits that her idea of success changed a lot. Although fame and exposure seem like the main goal, now they consider independence more than anything else.Speaking to Mid-Day, he shared, “I wanted people to know me [then]but today success is choosing the work I do or choosing the people I have to work with. Being able to say no to the parts you don’t agree with and the way you see yourself as an expert, that’s winning for me,” he explains.The actor is equally vocal about resisting the industry’s tendency to prey on people who only show off. “I hate being put in a box. As an actor, there’s a lot I can do, but I can’t force someone to give me an opportunity, even if I think I would be very good. The opportunities that come to me, I’ll try and take them. It’s fun, and I’m very proud that I can do the hottest song in the same year about the most important politics of women. I can grow old and humble myself, I can do anything because I’m an actor. A romantic movie is still on Huma Qureshi’s wish list
Although Huma has made a name for herself by choosing unconventional roles, she reveals that there is one genre she is still waiting to explore. The actor says that he would love to have the title of a romantic comedy or a commercial, though such commercials put him off. “If I make a commercial or romantic film, I will do it in my own way. I will not interfere with anyone’s feelings. “
