Veteran cinematographer Dillip Ray, one of the most successful names in Odia cinema, has died at the age of 72 after a prolonged illness.According to PTI, Dillip Ray passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Friday night. Dillip Ray, who was born on July 27, 1954, in Cuttack, became very interested in cinema. To pursue his artistic interests, he studied at the Film and Television Institute (FTI) in Bengaluru, where he received a technical education.

Dillip Ray has acted in more than 80 Odia films and about 15 Bengali productions. His films also included several Chhattisgarhi films, documentaries, and TV shows.Some of the notable films of his career are ‘Tisandhya’, ‘Mamata Ra Dora’, ‘Majhi Pahacha’, and ‘Bidhira Bidhana’.
