UGC NET June 2026 exam starts tomorrow; check shift schedules, required documents and important guidelines
UGC NET Exam June 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will start the UGC NET June 2026 exam from June 22. The National Eligibility Test will be conducted in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode till June 30 for the candidates aspiring for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor posts and PhD admissions.Candidates who have to appear for the exam have been advised to download their admit cards and check all the details including exam date, report time, shift and allotted exam center. The agency has also requested the candidates to carefully read the instructions mentioned at the hall entrance before reaching the test centre.
UGC NET June 2026 Exam Timings
The UGC NET June 2026 exam will be conducted in two shifts every day during the exam period. The first shift will be from 9am to 12pm, while the second shift will be from 3pm to 6pm.In order to avoid any last minute inconvenience, candidates have been advised to report to their respective examination centers at least two hours before the commencement of the examination.
Required Documentation for UGC NET June 2026 Exam Center
NTA has issued the list of documents that candidates need to bring to the exam hall. Candidates will have to carry UGC NET Admit Card June 2026 in print format along with original photo ID. Identity documents include Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID Card and Driving License.In addition, candidates must carry a passport size photograph, preferably the same as the one uploaded during the application process. Applicants in the PwD/PwBD category must also bring the corresponding disability certificate, if applicable.The testing agency has clarified that no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall without valid admit card and photo identity proof.
UGC NET June 2026: List of Prohibited Items
Candidates have been strictly prohibited from bringing electronic devices and other unauthorized materials into the examination hall.Cell phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, headphones, and similar electronic items are not permitted inside the test center. Candidates should also avoid carrying written notes, books, printed material, bags, purses, wallets or any communication and storage devices.As per NTA guidelines, candidates found in possession of prohibited items may face cancellation of candidature and disciplinary action.
UGC NET Exam Pattern June 2026
The UGC NET June 2026 exam will be conducted in a single session of three hours without any break. The test consists of two works carried out together. Paper I is designed to assess the candidates’ teaching and research aptitude, while paper II assesses subject-specific knowledge based on the discipline chosen by the candidate.The exam consists entirely of objective-type multiple-choice questions and carries a total of 300 marks.
There is no negative marking in UGC NET June 2026
Lack of negative marking in UGC NET exam is one of the important aspects of the exam. Candidates will not be penalized for any wrong answer. So the candidate can attempt all the questions.Since the exam is scheduled to start from June 22, candidates are advised to follow all the instructions, carry necessary documents and reach the center before the stipulated time.
