Director Ahmed Khan It recently revealed that Welcome To The Jungle was set up on a grand scale, with around 900 people, 50 vanities, around 250 vehicles and a total budget of Rs 110 crore. A big budget starrer had it Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon among other popular actors. It also made a star Tusshar Kapoor who has now spoken about the growth of production in a recent interview. Most of the time he thought about the huge amount of money that is needed every day to make such a film.Tusshar admitted that accepting to be a part of the movie with 34 actors was not an immediate decision. He recalled receiving the offer while in London three years ago and said it took him a while to convince him.“I was in London when Welcome was given to me. This was three years ago. Ahmed called me, and I was very happy. When we met, he told me who was in the movie. I was confused. Over the next few months, after hearing the story and my behavior, I felt safe in his hands. So it was a process, not an immediate green flag. It took me a while to believe that I was in good hands. Ahmed helped me make this film. When it is him, there is a lot of trust and blind faith. He was my first cinematographer,” he said in an interview with Screen. Looking back at the atmosphere during the shoot, Tusshar explained that the set was fun and full of camaraderie, comparing it to a college canteen where everyone mingled freely.“You can’t describe the chemistry on the set. There were so many actors that it was like everyone was interacting with everyone. Everyone was finding their comfort zone. It felt like the way movies were made in the olden days, like Mughal-e-Azam or Rajkumar Koli movies where there were so many stars. It felt like a party was going on. Ahmed wanted everyone to be happy. It felt like a college canteen. “As someone who understands filmmaking from both a creative and business perspective, Tusshar said the sheer volume of his productions often leaves him counting his expenses in his head. The endless line of useless vans and the number of workers made him question whether such an investment was worth it, even though he admired Ahmed Khan’s ambition.“When I get to the land, it would take five minutes to get to our junk car because we had to go through a huge line of cars. I used to just look at these banks and wonder what the daily cost would be for so many cars, and everyone’s employees. How much money? There was a gap of one year in the shooting of Welcome. When the film resumed, they never thought of shooting with the available actors. He stuck to his guns and finished the film. “Tusshar also looked into the ongoing discussion about the group’s entertainment spending. While he acknowledged that some entertainment is necessary for actors to be successful, he emphasized that there should be clear boundaries.“There must be a balance. Some of that cost, even if it is too much, is needed. You need your hair stylist, your makeup man. You need other things. Going with the stress that the leading actor or actress goes through, you need comfort, space, and precious things to bring out the best. This is a beautiful look, so to bring that beauty, you need a limit of expense. It should not go beyond the needs of vanity to the point of becoming narcissism. It doesn’t have to be done to achieve your goal. That’s not good.
