Sharing a video on his social media account, Cruise wrote, “You like football, Maggie? DIGGER in theaters October.“

The video shows the actor in full costume and make-up as his Digger character. Sitting in an armchair with a cat on his head, Cruise runs a football around his feet while singing, “Ole.” He ends the video by announcing, “Let’s go!”

The video comes just days after FIFA confirmed that the ‘Top Gun’ star will make a special appearance at the closing ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The star-studded event will take place before the final of the World Cup in New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday, July 19. Cruise will join an impressive list of international stars during the pre-festivals, including Italian singer Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls, British singer Robbie Williams and YouTube. Actress and singer Jennifer Hudson is also set to make her US debut.The closing ceremony should start 90 minutes before the final, at 1:30 pm local time.
