Christopher NolanThe Odyssey continues to enjoy the highest grossing performance at the Indian box office. The film which ended its second weekend has already crossed Rs 140 crore in India and remains one of the strongest Hollywood films of the year.

‘The Odyssey’ box office collection Day 10

The mythological epic stars Matt Damon lead, saw good growth on its second Sunday, successfully crossing the Rs 140 crore mark, thus cementing its place among Hollywood’s highest grossing releases. According to Sacnilk’s preliminary estimates, ‘The Odyssey’ collected Rs 11.45 crore nett on Day 10 from 4,638 screens, marking a 3.6 percent increase over Saturday’s collection of Rs 11.05 crore. With Friday’s collection of Rs 6.85 crore, the film managed to earn around Rs 29.35 crore in the second weekend. This is almost a 50 percent drop in the film’s opening weekend. By the end of its first weekend at the box office, the film had collected Rs 90.30 crore.With the latest figures, the film’s total collection in India has now reached Rs 119.65 crore, while the domestic collection has risen to Rs 142.86 crore.

The English version of ‘Odyssey’ continues to dominate

The English version remained the film’s highest grosser in the second weekend, collecting around Rs 9.75 crore on Sunday. The Hindi version also registered good growth, contributing around Rs 1.40 crore, while the Tamil and Telugu versions earned around Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh respectively.

‘The Odyssey’ still holds even ‘Jana Nayaganwave

‘The Odyssey’ has maintained strong collections despite the release of Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, one of the biggest Indian releases of the year. The Tamil blockbuster destroyed the box office with Rs 145.98 crore gross and Rs 124.75 crore net in its opening weekend in India.

‘The Odyssey’ vs ‘Spider-Man: A New Day

Although the film has fared well in the second weekend, its biggest box office battle is on the horizon. The film is set to face stiff competition from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, which is already setting a record at the box office in India.The Tom Holland starrer is said to have earned Rs 25 crores in advance bookings on its opening day alone. Industry estimates suggest that the film’s final sales are likely to rise to Rs 35 cross, giving it the biggest Hollywood opening ever in the country.According to Sacnilk reports, the movie is likely to earn around Rs 50 crore on its opening day even if it releases on a working Thursday, a huge feat for a Hollywood title in India.
