Speaking on the ‘Where Everyone Knows Your Name’ podcast with fellow actor Jake Johnson, the actor was asked about his time on the beloved ’80s sitcom and how the show’s end affected him at the time.Reminiscing about those days, Danson shared that he had a lot going on in his life at the time, which made ‘Cheers’ feel ‘senseless’ to him. She said, “People say, ‘What happened? I said, ‘I messed up my life so much that I didn’t even realize ‘Cheers’ was over.”The 78-year-old actor revealed that many things were happening in his life at the time, which affected his work and his daily life. He said, “I wanted to stop being a liar. I didn’t know myself. I wanted to be mature. I wanted to change a lot, and I went.” For the uninitiated, Danson and his second wife, Cassandra ‘Casey’ Coates, divorced the year ‘Cheers’ ended. On top of this, the actor found himself in the headlines for his relationship with a fellow actress, Whoopi Goldberg.How did he get better? The actor praised one of his mentors who visited him at the time in Long Beach, California. Although he did not name the person on the podcast, he said that they helped him, guided him, and gave him “various medicines, spiritual things.”

The 78-year-old star was last seen on ‘A Man On The Inside’, in which he worked with his wife, Mary Steenburgen. The two starred together in “Pontiac Moon”, and tied the knot in 1995. Speaking to PEOPLE in an earlier interview about Steenburgen’s exit from the show’s second season, Danson revealed that she was thrilled to hear the news. He added, “We both love being actors; we both love the process. So we spent two and a half months together waking up, going to work early but laughing the whole time because of what we were saying and doing.” It was really a great opportunity. “Speaking to USA Today about the same in an interview, Danson added, “It’s really fun to play and fall in love with someone you love so much. You just hide each other, which is good.”
