Speaking to PEOPLE on the opening night of her Off-Broadway musical on July 10, Nettles shared her thoughts on being a part of the family’s most important event. “To be a small part of their story for me was very special because, obviously, these are two people at the top of their industry, at the top of their game, at the top of their skill, at the top of their skill,” he said. “It’s a very important time in their lives. Being able to witness this special moment, is great. “

While Swift, 36, and Nettles have been dating for years and collaborated on a 2018 song, the former TV personality admits that being invited to the big festival came as a surprise. I think that people were – there were leaks here and there when people thought, but no one knew where we were going until very close to the time,” he explained.In the end, about 1,000 guests gathered at the famous New York City square to support the couple. The ceremony featured both Swift and Kelce reading their vows from golden scrolls, each spending about 20 minutes in the exchange. The comedian presided over the ceremony, while Swift’s brother Austin served as best man and Kelce’s brother Jason acted as best man.
