‘Batwara 1947’, an upcoming drama Sunny Deol and guided by Rajkumar Santoshihas been criticized by Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) without any cuts. The actor took to his Instagram Stories on Monday to confirm the news, adding that the film has been given an A certificate.

Sharing the update, Sunny Deol wrote, “We are happy that Batwara 1947 has been cleared by CBFC without a single cut and given an A certificate. A film about humanity and love. Watch it in theaters from Division Day, 14th August.”

‘Batwara 1947’ is based on a Mohajir family who cross over to Lahore and live in a Hindu house left behind after Partition. Based on famous playwright Asghar Wajahat’s play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai’, the story is about an old Hindu woman who refuses to leave home and the conflicts that arise between her and a Mohajir family. The film celebrates the bond between two families while exploring hope amid some of the darkest chapters in human history.The project marks the first collaboration between Sunny Deol, director Rajkumar Santoshi, and producer Aamir Khan. Aamir said in a statement, “This was one of Dharamji’s favorite scripts, and I’m glad he saw the film.”

The film also marks the reunion of 90s actors Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi, known for hit films like ‘Ghatak’, ‘Ghayal’, and ‘Damini’. Regarding the long journey of this project, Sunny said: “Lahore ek aisa subject hai jispe hum kaafi saalon se kaam kar rahe the; kayi actron ne kahaani suni hai. Kayi actor ke saath banne wala bhi tha, lekin bana nahi (Lahore is a subject that we have been working on for many years. Several players have heard the story. It was about to be made with a few actors, but it didn’t happen). Then again, ‘Gadara 2’ has made it all happen.
