The business caught a lot of attention last year after the author Shobhaa De he said his one place in Mumbai fetched between Rs 2 crore and Rs 3 crore in one night. While Shilpa later denied those figures, her husband is a businessman Raj Kundra has now opened up about the growth of the company, revealing that despite its success, no one is taking money out of the business to spend.In an interview with Jai Madaan, Raj talked about the role of Vastu in their business decisions, explaining that every Bastian property is thoroughly tested before it is launched. “We do. We have a permanent Vastu expert. We have a priest named Jaspreet, who inspects every property before we open.” Madaan also recalled that he had visited Bastian’s Dadar outlet when it had just opened and shared that he immediately felt that the brand would be a huge hit.“When I went to Bastian in Dadar, I looked at how the ‘B’ of Bastian started, and I told my daughter that this will be a big sign. I also told them that they will eventually sell their tree after giving a big price. I knew that they would not be with them forever. ” Raj admitted that he was surprised by what he predicted. “It’s amazing. It’s scary.” Madaan went on to reveal some of the predictions he made about the business, saying the family would continue to pay back their earnings instead of making a profit for themselves.“I also said that they will make a lot of money but they won’t keep any of it. They just keep taking money from one place and putting it somewhere else. They won’t take one penny home. Nobody will take a salary or profit. Everything will go back to the business.” Responding to his comments, Raj confirmed that the business followed this strategy.“Wow, not bad. The growth has been huge. Seriously, without investing a single penny after the first sale, it was so successful that we continued to open. Today, there are about 9 Bastians across the country. It all started with the first one. ” Madaan predicted that Bastian would eventually establish Tier-2 cities as the brand expanded.The restaurant had hit the headlines after Shobhaa De spoke about what she described as her excessive spending while appearing on Mojo’s Story. “The money in Mumbai is amazing. A single restaurant earns Rs 2-3 crore per night. On slow nights, it is Rs 2 crore, and on weekends it is Rs 3 crore. I entered the restaurant alone because as soon as I heard these numbers, I thought they couldn’t be true.“He later found out that the restaurant was Bastian’s. “It’s Bastian. The new Bastian. It’s spread over 21,000 square meters. It doesn’t feel real. You walk in and wonder where you are. You have a 360-degree view of the city. People arrive in Lamborghinis and Aston Martins. Name yourself.”Shilpa Shetty, however, denied the viral claims when she appeared on Curly Tales, saying that the reported figures were not true. “I believe that was true. I believe it will be true one day, so let’s be careful.” Shilpa entered the hospitality industry in 2019.
