State Bank of India (SBI) will soon close the online application process for Probationary Officer (PO) Recruitment 2026. Eligible candidates who have not yet applied can complete their registration through the official SBI career portal before the last date of July 8, 2026.Through this recruitment drive, SBI aims to fill 1500 Probationary Officer vacancies across the country. These include 1,446 ordinary vacancies and 54 pending vacancies. The bank has also stated that the number of vacancies is provisional and may vary depending on its needs.
SBI PO Recruitment 2026: Eligibility
Candidates must possess a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university or possess an equivalent degree recognized by the Central Government.Students in their final year or semester of graduation are also eligible to apply, provided they provide proof of passing the qualifying exam on or before September 30, 2026, if shortlisted for interview.Applicants should be between 21 to 30 years as on 1st April 2026. Age relaxation for reserved category candidates will be given as per Govt.
Application fee
Candidates belonging to Unreserved (UR), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories have to pay an application fee of Rs.750.Candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Persons with Reference Disabilities (PwBD) categories are exempted from paying application fee.
Selection process
The recruitment process will be carried out in three stages:
- Phase 1: Preliminary online exam
- Phase 2: Online Main Exam
- Phase 3: Psychometric test, group exercise and personal interview
The preliminary exam is scheduled to be held in August 2026, while the main exam is scheduled to be held in September 2026. The final stage of selection is likely to take place during the months of October and November 2026.

Selected candidates will join SBI as Probationary Officers in the Junior Management Grade Scale-I.The starting basic pay is Rs 48,480 while the approximate cost to company (CTC) in central Mumbai is around Rs 21.97 lakh per annum. Selected candidates will also be eligible for bonuses and benefits as per bank norms.
