Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu called the singer a “fraud” while rejecting allegations that the Center had anything to do with the film’s cancellation from Zee5.Speaking in Ludhiana, Bittu said that the government has no control over OTT platforms and refuted claims that political pressure led to the cancellation of the film. Satluj disappeared from Zee5 within 48 hours of its release, prompting criticism from the Punjabi film industry, media operators and the Punjab government.Bittu said that the makers only cleared the film after getting the money they wanted.“Diljit Dosanjh only thinks about money,” he said.He went on to question the issue surrounding the film’s cancellation. “We have to understand that there was something wrong when Diljit Dosanjh said that the film will be available on the OTT platform for two and three days and then it will be removed.“It seems that after getting the necessary funds, they removed the film. The government has no control over OTT platforms,” he said.
Bittu looks at Diljit for Chamkila and his public appearance
Bittu did not stand for the Satluj conflict. He also criticized Diljit for his film choices and public appearances.Commenting on Amar Singh Chamkila, Bittu said, “If Diljit Dosanjh had respected the women in his family, like his mother or his sister, he would not have acted in Chamkila’s film.”He accused the filmmaker of just making money and asked why he never made a film on human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.The Union minister also described Diljit as a “traitor” and accused him of misleading the people of Punjab while living in Los Angeles.“They are misleading Punjab when they are in Los Angeles,” Bittu said.Talking about Diljit’s concerts abroad, he said that the singer has been asking for Khalistan flags to be removed from his concerts before asking, “Which organizations are behind Diljit?”
‘I’m not against the movie’
Bittu said he was not against films based on Punjab’s war years but felt that Satluj only presented one side of the story.“I am not against the video, but the one-sided story should not be shown,” he said.He also challenged Diljit Dosanjh and director Honey Trehan to make a film about police officers who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks.“Will Diljit Dosanjh and Honey Trehan make a movie about police officers killed in 1984?” he asked.
Why is Satluj facing controversy?
The controversy started after Satluj was fired from Zee5 two days after he started gathering.
