Salman Khan‘s ‘Maatrubhumi’ is still one of the most eagerly awaited films of 2026. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, it was initially slated for release in April 2026 but was pushed back indefinitely due to reshoots and script revisions. Although the first reports mentioned the release in the second half of 2026, a new report now suggests that the film may be delayed to 2027. This will leave Salman without releasing a single film in 2026. Fans, however, can be rewarded in 2027, with two releases on the cards, ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace’ and ‘SVC Rest In Peace’ and ‘SVC.
Salman Khan’s film is facing concerns from the Defense Ministry
According to Bollywood Hungama, the delay in the release of Maatrubhumi is due to concerns expressed by the Ministry of Defense over the content of the film, including China’s claims. The story is not over yet.

Reports suggest that Dussehra, which falls on Tuesday (October 20), could be a good window for the release of ‘Maatrubhumi’, which could give Salman Khan’s film a chance to have a five-day weekend. ‘Ramayana’ is slated to release on October 30. After that, no big release is expected till the last week of November, which may also work in Maatrubhumi’s favour.
Some movies are slated to release on October 16
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao‘s ‘Raftaar’ and Emraan Hashmi-Genelia Deshmukh starrer ‘Gunmaster G9’ is said to be releasing on October 16, though the makers are yet to confirm the date.
Salman Khan may release twice in 2027
According to reports, these issues are not going to be resolved soon, ‘Maatrubhumi’ will continue next year. If it happens, Salman Khan’s two films will be released in 2027. He is currently shooting for an untitled Vamshi Paidipally starrer. Nayanthara as a woman leads.
Salman Khan plays Colonel B Santosh Babu in ‘Maatrubhumi’
‘Maatrubhumi – May War Rest In Peace’ stars Chitrangada Singh opposite Salman Khan, who essays the role of Colonel B Santosh Babu, the story is set in the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict between the Indian and Chinese armies. The makers have already released an announcement trailer and a couple of music videos to create excitement ahead of the release.
Salman Khan’s SVC 63 to be more entertaining
As for ‘SVC 63’, the film is being bankrolled by producer Dil Raju, and Salman Khan is said to be essaying multiple roles in this action thriller. Dil Raju described ‘SVC 63’ as Salman’s big vehicle full of action, drama and emotional depth.
