The Delhi High Court has ordered the makers of the upcoming film ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legal’ to remove its teasers and all online promos after that. Salman Khan she denied the alleged unauthorized use of her personality and public image.In an interim order passed on July 27, Justice Jyoti Singh observed that the actor has made a prima facie case and that the film makers cannot use his commercials, gestures or other famous qualities without his permission.

Clients and advertisements must be removed
Justice Singh restrained the filmmakers from uploading, hosting, sharing or advertising the comedy or anything related to it on social media, OTT services, television or print media. The existing posts have been ordered to be removed within 24 hours. The court also ordered X, Meta and Google to remove the mentioned URLs if their uploaders fail to comply within the time limit set. Reiterating the legal protections available to the public, the law states:“The right to personality has been recognized by the courts as an integral part of Article 21 of the Constitution of India, which includes the right to privacy, dignity and reputation.”It also said: “The plaintiff has the right to know how his work is being used commercially and the defendants in question may not use the name of the singer, his characteristics and other special characteristics for commercial gain, without authority and / or to publish and publish what damages the reputation of the plaintiff in public.”
Salman Khan’s objections before the court
Representing the actor, Salman Khan’s legal team said that the actor was portraying a fictional star accused of killing a blackbuck and had deliberately used a name similar to the actor’s. He also referred to the character as “this Dabangg”, adding that the promotional campaign linked Khan to international terrorism and terrorism while referring to a conspiracy to block the film’s release.Salman Khan also demanded that the film not be released as part of his case.The actor also said that although he was acquitted of the Arms Act charges, the photo shows a middle-aged man holding a gun, which he described as derogatory. The filmmakers deny the claim
Filmmaker Amit Jani, responding before the Supreme Court, said that Salman Khan cannot claim that he has exclusive rights over cases, criminal records or past events because they concern him.The makers have also argued that ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legal’ is not the actor’s biography and they deny infringing his rights. He said that there was no admission of falsehood, acting as a commercial or illegal use of his reputation and said that human rights cannot be used to solve public issues related to blackbuck disputes.In response, Salman Khan clarified that he is not trying to control public events or cases. Instead, he claimed that the filmmakers used his commercials and well-known characteristics without permission to attract people.It is worth noting that Salman Khan had already received an interim injunction from the Delhi High Court in December 2025 to ban the use of his name, likeness and likeness in unauthorized commercial and e-commerce.
