Raghu was 50 years old and Varijashree was 34 years old when they got married. Their 16-year age gap became a talking point for many people online. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Raghu admitted that some of the comments hurt him. He said: “Honestly, we knew that people always have an opinion, especially when you are in public. Then he added, “But then you know that there is another way to have a good and happy life – don’t take the Internet too seriously.” He said the love and support from family, friends and real fans is more important than online opinions.Raghu said that marrying Varijashree was natural as they had known each other for a long time before taking any action. He said, “You know, love is a strange thing. It sees the invisible beauty… it just happened. We were friends for a long time, long before we decided to get married. And when we did, it just felt natural. If your decisions are based on love, mutual respect and trust, then the outside noise is irrelevant.“
