Nissan teases Tekton SUV ahead of July 9 debut: It's called 'Baby Patrol'

Nissan India has confirmed that the Tekton SUV will make its global debut on July 9, 2026, and released a teaser showing new design details. The teaser also describes the upcoming Tekton as ‘Baby Patrol’, showing strong design links to the brand’s flagship SUV. The Tekton is expected to carry many styling elements inspired by the Patrol, including the grille, headlamps and other exterior details. The upcoming model shares its platform with the new Renault Duster and will be manufactured at Renault’s facility in Tamil Nadu.

Design-wise, the upcoming SUV has a wide front grille with a red horizontal strip running across it and a glowing Nissan logo in the middle. The SUV also features a full-width LED DRL signature linked to the headlamp units, which contain L-shaped lighting elements. Other exterior highlights include a sculpted bonnet with prominent character lines, a central hood scoop and Tekton badging. At the rear, the SUV features a roof-mounted spoiler, a raked windshield, C-shaped connected tail lamps and a large bumper. Dimensionally, the SUV is expected to be similar in size to the new Renault Duster, which measures 4,345 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width, 1,703 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,657 mm.Tekton is expected to share its engine options with the new Duster. A 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with 100 PS power and 160 nm torque mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The other engine is a 1.3-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline engine with 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed DCT or 6-speed manual. There is also a larger 1.8-liter powerful hybrid gasoline engine with 109 hp paired with a 49hp electric motor and a 20hp hybrid starter generator (HSG), paired with a 1.4kWh (280V) battery. Together, this configuration provides a combined system output of 160hp and 172Nm.Expected features include 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, 48-color ambient lighting, multi-start/stop mode and additional push button.The new Nissan Tekton will be a key product for Nissan India. It is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will compete with models like Renault Duster, Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and others.
