NEET UG 2026 candidates have been given more time to complete the fee refund process after the National Testing Agency (NTA) extended the deadline for bank account verification and correction to July 7, 2026. Applicants can confirm or update their bank details on the official portal to ensure successful processing of the exam fee refund.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to extend the deadline for NEET UG 2026 aspirants to enter their bank details for examination fee refund. This decision was taken as more than 50% of eligible candidates did not submit their bank details by the earlier deadline, according to media reports. The extension allows applicants a second chance to successfully complete the fee refund process.

52% of candidates have provided bank details

The NTA has revealed that till July 14, 2026, only 11,46,401 candidates have submitted their bank details. The agency has already begun processing refunds for those who have successfully updated their bank account information. Candidates who have not yet completed the process have been urged to submit their details as soon as possible to avoid missing out on the refund.

The return deadline for NEET UG 2026 has been extended

The NTA has extended the last date to submit bank account details to 31 July 2026 at 11.50pm. The previous deadline was July 14.The extension has been provided to ensure that all eligible candidates receive a refund of the examination fee. Candidates who do not update their bank account details by the revised deadline may experience delays in receiving their refund.

Why do candidates receive a refund?

According to reports, the NEET UG 2026 exam was initially scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026. Due to claims of paper leakage, the exam was canceled and re-held on June 21, 2026.To ensure that candidates were compensated after the re-test, the NTA moved forward with the process of issuing refunds of examination fees. The refund is transferred directly to the bank accounts provided by the candidates.

Scanned NTA Releases OMR answer sheets

Meanwhile, the NTA has also released the scanned OMR answer sheets for the candidates who appeared in the NEET UG 2026 exam again.Answer sheets are available only through candidate’s individual login to NEET official portal. Candidates need to use their application number and password to access their scanned OMR sheet. The agency has advised candidates to ensure that they enter the correct login credentials to avoid access issues.The scanned OMR sheets have been released after the publication of the provisional answer key, enabling candidates to compare their recorded answers before the final answer key is issued.

Expected result for July 20

The objection window for the provisional answer key is scheduled to close soon. After reviewing the challenges submitted by the candidates, the NTA will publish the final answer key.The NEET UG 2026 re-examination result is expected to be declared by July 20, 2026. The result will determine admissions for more than 20 lakh MBBS aspirants to medical colleges in the country.

What should candidates do now?

Students who have not yet provided their bank details must do so before 23:50 on 31 July 2026, in order to get the refund of the fees without any problems. Students who have appeared in the exam must also download their OMR sheet to verify their answers through the official NEET website before the announcement of the final answer key.
