The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) is expected to announce the revised schedule for NEET SS 2025 second round counseling soon after the Supreme Court directed the restoration of 151 vacant super specialty medical seats in the central pool. The order has put an end to the long-pending dispute over the in-service seats in Tamil Nadu under the All India Quota (AIQ) framework.The apex court has directed that the remaining counseling process should be completed within two weeks. The decision has brought relief to thousands of candidates awaiting admission to the Doctor of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) programmes.The Supreme Court order removes the delay in the second round counsellingThe counseling process of the second round of NEET SS 2025 was halted after a legal dispute involving the Tamilvani & Others vs State of Tamil Nadu case. Tamil Nadu had filed a review petition to retain 151 vacant in-service super specialty seats instead of returning them to the central counseling group.On 29 July 2026, the Supreme Court dismissed the delay attempts and ordered the restoration of the 151 seats. The MCC will now have to complete the pending counseling stages within the stipulated time of 14 days.
