ETimes praises the look of the film

ETimes’ special review said, “One of the most interesting aspects of Karakkam is the way it presents ghosts. This is not always the case with Malayalam cinema’s white-clad ghosts, appearing silently in dark corners or moving around the frame in a predictable way. Here, the ghosts are from the past, and are imagined through many forms. Since they are associated with the old world of ballroom dancers, rock-star energy, music, and behavior, their clothes and physical appearance also reflect that. Disco-like dressing, dancing, and an exaggerated stage presence give spiritual sessions a new dimension. This makes the film different from the usual horror-comedy template, although the surrounding script is not a fantasy. The cast features Sreenath Bhasi as Dhanush and Femina George as Pink. Praveen TJ, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Shaun Romy, Manikandan R. Achari and Sidharth Bharathan also play important characters.
