India's tour of Bangladesh comes close to agreeing; T20Is in Afghanistan could be brought back
India are likely to travel to Bangladesh for a six-match white-ball series

New Delhi: India’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh is close to being approved and to accommodate the fixtures the proposed three T20Is against Afghanistan may be brought back. According to the proposed schedule circulated internally, India is scheduled to take on Afghanistan starting September 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. It is reliably learned that discussions are underway to push the start of the short series to September 17 which would allow enough window after the Tests in Sri Lanka to accommodate a short tour of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is excited to have a six-match white-ball series in September. Earlier this month, BCB sold its television and digital media rights. This comes a week after India resumed issuing tourist visas to Bangladeshi citizens, nearly two years after it was suspended following political unrest in Bangladesh in 2024.“We are optimistic about the tour. We have not yet received the green signal from BCCI:but they also did not say that they would not come. So we hope to get a positive response from the BCCI soon,” a senior BCB official told this website.Sources close to the newly elected BCB president, Tamim Iqbalsaid the former Bangladesh captain returned from the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland, with some positive signs. The series was originally scheduled for last year but was postponed due to political tension between the two countries. After being appointed BCB director, Tamim told TimesofIndia.com that he was optimistic about the series.“There is a scheduled series against India later this year. I hope that India will come and play the series. It is a bilateral series that people in Bangladesh enjoy watching. Bangladesh did well in the previous series against India,” said Tamim. Now it seems the decks are clear for India to tour Bangladesh after a gap of four years.
