He said, “Gulveer used to run in the fields; that’s how he glorified our name… He is doing well and he aspires to achieve more… I am very happy; may my son continue to bring glory to our country.”Gulveer’s wife Babita said the silver medal has brought pride to their district and the country. She added, “My husband ran the race yesterday. He got second place and brought honor to our district and the country; everyone at home was happy that he brought such pride to the country… There was a very happy atmosphere in the village, and everyone was happy to see it.”

The Army athlete clocked 27:49.78 in the final, staying in the lead group before making a strong sprint in the closing lap to finish behind Australia’s Ky Robinson.
