Fleming emerged as the ECB’s top choice
The Telegraph report said Fleming beat other contenders, including former England batter Jonathan Trott and current England men’s performance director Richard Dawson, to land the role. If appointed, Fleming will replace fellow New Zealander Brendon McCullum, who recently stepped down as England’s Test head coach after a disappointing run of results in the top format.Despite leaving the Test role, McCullum will remain in charge of England’s white-ball teams, forming a unique coaching partnership. The duo share a long-standing relationship, with McCullum making his Test debut under Fleming’s captaincy for New Zealand.
