‘Black Panther 3’ has been officially confirmed! The upcoming movie from the MCU, which showed up late Chadwick Boseman leading as King T’Challa, he is now planning a new direction with his third installment. During the San Diego Comic-Con event, production studios announced several new and upcoming projects planned for the Cinematic Universe.

David Johnson joins ‘Black Panther 3’

Although the projects were already at the forefront of discussions, no new changes were announced. Deadline reported that during Comic-Con’s H Panel, Ryan Coolerwho directed the previous two films, confirmed that he will return for the upcoming film. Not only that, but ‘The Long Walk’ actor David Jonsson has also been announced as the new Black Panther. T’Challa’s son was first revealed at the end of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’Instead of repeating, Marvel confirmed that Jonsson will take on the mantle of Black Panther; however, he would be playing T’Challa’s son in the upcoming film. The official release date has also been set for December 15, 2028. It was also revealed that the upcoming third installment will be shot on the biggest celluloid film. Leticia Wright and Winston Duke will also reprise their roles in the 2028 film as Shuri and M’Baku, respectively.Back in 2023, while talking to Variety, Wright talked about working on “Black Panther 3” and how he feels that the new film has already started working. He had commented at the time, “You know, we’ve just had two terrible years of putting it out there and everyone is coming together to support us. We need a little break, we need to renovate, and Ryan needs to go back to the lab, so it’s going to take a little while, but we’re really excited for you guys to see it.

About the ‘Black Panther’ franchise

The ‘Black Panther’ franchise started in 2018, with Chadwick Boseman taking on the lead role of the King of Wakanda. The film, along with Boseman and Wright, starred Lupita Nyong’o, Forrest Whitaker, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira and Angela Bassett. The film was a critical success, and won 3 Oscars for best costume design, best production and best original score.
