PUNE: Educational institution FUEL (Friends Union for Energizing Lives) will present ‘Mauli – A Timeless Tradition’, a Bharatanatyam production inspired by the spiritual essence of Pandharpur Wari, on July 12 at MES Auditorium, Kothrud. The event will also raise funds to support the education of 10 students through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.The 75-minute production will be performed by internationally renowned Bharatanatyam exponent, choreographer and researcher, Bala Devi Chandrashekar.Announcing the program on Wednesday, FUEL founder and chairman Dr Ketan Deshpande said the production celebrates the enduring connection between devotion, tradition and classical art while giving audiences a glimpse into the spiritual journey of the Warkari tradition.Bala Devi Chandrashekar said the production portrays the lives and devotional compositions of Warkari saints including Saint Dnyaneshwar, Saint Namdev, Saint Eknath, Saint Tukaram and Saint Janabai. “The Wari is not just a pilgrimage but an inner spiritual journey that culminates in personal transformation. Through Bharatanatyam, we have tried to bring this timeless tradition to life,” he said.The performance will feature well-known abhangs and bharuds like Sundar Te Dhyan, Roop Paahata Lochani and Khel Mandiyela Valavanti Ghai.Organizers said the initiative combines cultural heritage with social responsibility by using the program to support the educational aspirations of underprivileged girls.
