Damon, who starred in Christopher Nolan’s epic ‘The Odyssey’, drew parallels between his character’s self-deprecating attitude and the attitudes he and Affleck developed when they were young. “I think starting out as an actor, you have to feel this way a little bit. You have to because the odds are so long against you,” Damon said in an interview. “I think Ben and I encouraged each other when we were young. We were young, and we would come here to New York on the train or bus to try things out, at The Mickey Mouse Club.“They also explained what differentiates their approach to support and family motivation. “We were the only people who trusted each other. We had families, but they weren’t in the entertainment business. We were the only people who felt like we had a little foot in the door that said, ‘Yeah, you’re going to make it,'” Damon said. “And I think you have to have that mindset to go into this life because it’s a sports life and it’s not a normal path.“
