A veteran player Annu Kapoorhe thought about it. Having shared the screen space with Shah Rukh in the 1993 psychological drama ‘Darr’, Annu pushed back against the idea that one actor could be crowned the last of the industry. He said that similar tags have been attached to stars in the past, Rajesh Khanna being one example, yet cinema continued to move forward and lose new faces.

In an interview with Hindi Rush, Annu said that few Indian artists have made it to decades, to name a few. Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkarand Asha Bhosle as examples of actors with very long careers. Without mentioning Shah Rukh’s name again, he said that the actor’s career started in 1992, which makes him about 34 years old. Compared to Amitabh Bachchan’s staying power, Annu questioned whether Shah Rukh would be able to remain the same twenty years from now. “Will he still be eligible in 2045? I don’t think so,” he said.

However, Annu did not ignore Shah Rukh’s huge financial success and global following, admitting that his wealth and size cannot be ignored. When asked about their time together on ‘Darr’, Annu started by saying that she never worked with Shah Rukh at all. When reminded about the film, he admitted that the memory was sad as Shah Rukh was still new. He continued to reveal the director Yash Chopra it only allowed him to shoot for three days, which put him out of sync with the rest of the production. “I have nothing to do with Shah Rukh Khan. And when I have nothing to do with someone, all I have for them are blessings and prayers,” he said.

Although he was against the tag of “the last star”, Annu had kind words for Shah Rukh as a person. He also said that he felt that the actor is a devoted father, husband and brother, adding that these roles are more important than fame. “Celebrities come and go,” said Annu, noting that Shah Rukh’s dedication to his family can be seen as his true legacy.
