Amin Hajee: ‘Shocked to know about Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao’s divorce,’ says actor’s friend and co-star: ‘There was never a single time he was hurt or hated’ | Hindi Movie News

Follow up Aamir KhanAn intimate wedding for Gauri Spratt, his best friend and ‘Lagaan’ star Amin Hajee has spoken candidly about the former actor’s relationship, and shared his thoughts on Aamir’s breakup with Kiran Rao and admires Reena Dutta, Kiran and Gauri. In an interview with Rediff.com, Amin admitted that the news of Aamir and Kiran ending their marriage surprised him. “That is a question I often ask myself. If someone can explain why two people fall in love, maybe they can also explain why they fall in love. Thinking about relationships, Amin said that they are often more complex than they appear to outsiders.“Friendship is very complicated. People evolve, change, and sometimes grow in different ways. In time, they may realize that they are not the same people anymore.” He also said that he did not feel it was necessary to ask Aamir or Kiran about the reasons behind their success. “Aamir and Kiran were together for 15 years. When they told us that they were breaking up, I was shocked. But what impressed me the most was the way he did it. He never acted out of anger or hatred. Everything that was personal remained personal. There were no public arguments, or disrespect. I don’t know what happened between them because they don’t discuss such personal reasons with us.”According to Amin, the good relationship between Kiran and Gauri Spratt is another manifestation of the maturity that everyone has dealt with.“I have seen Kiran and Gauri having a warm conversation. There is nothing serious or careless.” Having been in a relationship with Aamir for nearly 30 years, Amin reflected on the important role each of the three women has played in different phases of the actor’s life.Talking about Reena Dutta, he thanked her for her unwavering support during the making of ‘Lagaan’. “Reena was like a rock. She stepped in to make Lagaan because she knew Aamir needed her help.”He also remembered the mutual respect that the couple shared while making the film. “Whenever there was a disagreement about the budget or the production, Aamir never challenged his opinion. He would patiently explain why certain decisions had to be made for the sake of the film. There was a lot of mutual respect between them.”Amin admitted that Aamir’s breakup with Reena affected him a lot. “When Aamir told us that he and Reena were separating, I was heartbroken.”He then recalled meeting Kiran Rao for the first time when he was the assistant director on ‘Lagaan’. Recalling the events of the shooting, Amin said he refused to report to the group after being verbally abused by an aide. “Then Kiran came and said, ‘Baggu, put tikkas only when you feel ready. No one will force you.’ He didn’t make me feel guilty even though I later realized that maybe he was also blamed for the delay. This is how I remember Kiran: Smart and kind. “As for Gauri Spratt, Amin described her as someone who has quietly won over those around her. “Gauri is unique in her own way. We have been together in Panchgani, where he loves long walks, nature and simple life. She is an entrepreneur and has worked in the fashion and beauty industry. But he doesn’t talk about what he has achieved.” He also said that what really sets Gauri apart is her mental maturity.“What Gauri is known for is her emotional intelligence. She listens before she speaks. She likes to understand all sides of a problem before forming an opinion.” Aamir himself has spoken about the enduring respect he shares with Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao despite the end of their marriages. In an earlier interview with India Today, the actor expressed the importance of all women in his life. “You know the important people I’ve met in my life, like Reena – she and I got married when we were together for 16 years. It was a runaway marriage; we ran away to get married. The most important relationship I’ve had in my life was with these amazing people. Both Reena and Kiran are amazing people. These two women have been my life, and they’ve given me so much.He added that although their relationship changed over time, the love and respect between them continued.
