The actor gave an example of the blockbuster success of Saiyaara, saying that the romantic drama captivated the audience through its songs, romance and acting.Speaking to IANS, Akshay was asked about the growing belief that only action films and multi-starrers are doing well in the theatres, a sentiment that was recently echoed by actor R Madhavan.
‘If it’s in the future of the film, it will work’
Responding to the controversy, Akshay said that the success of a film depends on his future.“If it’s in the future of the film, it’s going to work out in a different way,” he said.The actor then pointed to Saiyaara, playing with the newcomers No Panday and I Paddaas proof that content can be successful without extensive marketing efforts.
‘What event did Saiyaara have?’
Recalling the film, Akshay asked director Ahmed Khan, who was present during the interview, to remind him of the title.“Recently, a movie came out with a new boy and a new girl. What was the movie?” he asked.When Ahmed Khan replied, “Saiyaara,” Akshay continued, “Yes, Saiyaara. What kind of event did this film have? I want to ask, what kind of event did the film have? There was no event. It’s just that the music worked, and the love in the film worked. It worked. The boy and the girl did well, and they were lucky that the film started.
