Diljit Dosanjh‘s ‘Satluj’ has been in the news ever since it was pulled from OTT two days after the film’s release. Earlier, the CBFC had said that the film would have 127 cuts, so the makers opted for an OTT release. Now, a filmmaker Anurag Kashyap said former CBFC chairman Prasoon Joshi had criticized Diljit Dosanjh’s “Satluj” without watching the film. Referring to the long-running fight against Honey Trehan’s directorial, Kashyap said he was told by the director himself that objections were raised even though the film was not seen by Joshi. For those who don’t know, Prasoon Joshi directed it Central Board of Film Certification till May 2026, when Shashi Shekhar Vempati became the chairman.Formerly known as ‘Punjab ’95’, ‘Satluj’ has been busy in the spotlight for nearly three years. The movie was recently released on ZEE5 worldwide just a few days after its release. Kashyap recalled a conversation with Honey Trehan about the certification process. “Honey says Prasoon Joshi had objections to the film. He has not seen the film. I know, sometimes, the chairman does not see the film,” said Kashyap in an interview with Kunal Kamra. The filmmaker also said that the CBFC director does not just watch every film and can rely on the reports given by the members of the Censorship Committee before making a decision. “On the basis of the report, an invalid decision can be made. Therefore, the film has been canceled automatically. When I last spoke to Honey, he was not given any valid reasons,” he said.Trehan had recently told The Indian Express that neither he nor the makers spoke directly before the film was pulled from the platform. “I did not receive any calls from them. I had nothing to do. Neither my producers nor I received calls. But Zee5 received a letter from the (I&B) Ministry to stop the film,” said Trehan.According to the report, when the project was called “Punjab ’95”, Prasoon Joshi is said to have recommended 127 cuts, including removing everything about Punjab.Kashyap also criticized Joshi for not speaking publicly about the recent controversy surrounding film reviews. “If the face of the body is Prasoon Joshi, he has not said a single word on all the films that are being suspended. At the end of the day, by removing the FCAT, it is a Kafka-esque thing,” he said.He added, “Public office is a Kafka-esque face. You can’t have one public office because it follows policies and procedures,” while saying that the guidelines change according to public opinion.
