Shah Rukh Khan has received a reprieve from the long-standing litigation over the renovation of his Mumbai home, ‘Mannat’. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court rejected a plea challenging the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) permission granted for the project, paving the way for the actor to go ahead with plans that include adding two more rooms to the sea-facing terrace.According to ANI, the Supreme Court has refused to interfere with the order already passed by a National Green Tribunal (NGT), which rejected the objections to the approval of the CRZ.Bench with Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V Mohana dismissed the appeal filed by Santosh Daundkar of Mumbai. The worker had challenged the order of the NGT’s Western Zone Bench in Pune, citing the irregularities committed by the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) in the redevelopment and expansion of ‘Mannat’.Despite refusing to entertain the appeal, the Bench observed that it had “very serious bonafide doubts” (genuine) about the petition. The legal challenge stemmed from the September 2025 order of the Pune bench of the NGT, which upheld the CRZ permit granted by the MCZMA and dismissed Daundkar’s objections. Later, the holder moved the High Court, to reverse the decision of the court. However, the Supreme Court refused to intervene, upheld the NGT decision and disposed of the cases. While the Supreme Court rejected the appeal, the CRZ permission granted for the renovation and expansion of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Mannat’ remains in effect, allowing the construction, including the addition of two floors, to go ahead.
