England batsman Jordan Cox expressed frustration at the lack of privacy afforded to: Virat Kohli:revealing that the former India captain was secretly photographed during what was meant to be a hush-hush catch-up in London. Cox, who met his Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammate and mentor before his England Test debut at The Oval last month, said neither of them realized they had been photographed until images of the meeting surfaced online hours later.According to Cox, the couple enjoyed a peaceful meeting in a cafe, with hundreds of people passing by without disturbing them. However, the privacy they believe they have is short-lived.
“People Follow Him Without Knowing Him”
“The sad thing for him was that people were following him without him knowing. Hundreds of people passed us, nobody stopped, nobody did anything. I was like, ‘What?'” Cox told The Guardian. The England batsman admitted that he feels sorry for Kohli, saying that the Indian superstar rarely gets an opportunity to enjoy a normal life away from the cricket field.“It’s a shame how much a piece of him wants. He just wants to go under the radar, have fun and live a normal life. Unfortunately, that’s not always possible,” he added.
“He Always Wanted to Help Others”
While Kohli is widely known for his fierce on-field intensity, Cox says he is a completely different person behind the scenes. The young batsman praised Kohli for the time he invested in helping him during their time together with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, describing the Indian great as one of the most selfless senior players he has come across.“The thing that I found most special during the IPL was the amount of time he gave me as a player and, for someone who has achieved so much, how much he gave in general. Other guys focus on their own game, but he is someone who always wants to help others before he helps himself. That is rare,” concluded Cox.
Virat to return for ODI series against England
Virat Kohli is set to return to international cricket when India begin their three-match ODI series against England on July 14, after the conclusion of the ongoing T20I series. Before shifting focus to the ODI series, however, India have one last chance to end a disappointing T20I campaign on a positive note. Shreyas Iyer’s side trail the five-match series 3-0 after suffering back-to-back defeats and will be looking to avoid a series whitewash in the fifth and final T20I in Southampton.England, on the other hand, had a lot to play for despite sealing the series. Harry Brook’s men are chasing a dominant 4-0 series win and, with a win in the final match, could also leapfrog India to become No. 1-ranked T20I team in the ICC rankings.
