Yamaha Motor India today finally launched the new Yamaha Aerox E electric scooter in the Indian market, priced at Rs 2.81 lakh (ex-showroom). Interested customers can book the e-scooter online or by visiting their nearest dealership; Shipments are expected to begin soon. The Aerox E is the brand’s second electric scooter in India after the EC-06. Talking about the powertrain first, the Aerox electric is powered by a 9.5kW motor paired with two removable 1.5kWh battery packs. Together, they deliver 48Nm of torque, and Yamaha says the setup uses high-energy cells designed to maximize performance and efficiency. The electric scooter is claimed to cover up to 106km on a single charge and tips the scales at 139kg which is about 13kg more than the ICE Aerox 155. The Aerox-E is equipped with several riding modes – Eco, Standard, and Power – along with a special Boost mode that offers an instant surge of performance for effortless overtaking. Braking hardware includes front disc with ABS and rear disc, ensuring confident stopping power.

The scooter uses telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. It has 14-inch alloy wheels at both ends, while front and rear disc brakes, backed by single-channel ABS, provide braking. A TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity supports turn-by-turn navigation, weather information, and call and SMS alerts. In terms of design, the Aerox-E clearly carries the sporty DNA of its petrol sibling. The aggressive twin LED headlamps and sleek LED tail-lamp setup remain familiar, maintaining a sharp, dynamic look. What is new, however, is the addition of a TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, replacing the usual LCD found in the ICE version. Yamaha says it has also changed the ergonomics to make the electric version more attractive to ride. The electric version also has some minor changes, including blue accents around and the underseat storage has been reduced due to the placement of the batteries and revised styling.
