Jos Buttler writes history for England, joins Quinton de Kock in elite T20I list

Despite rain washing out the opening T20I against India, England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler achieved a significant personal milestone by completing 100 dismissals in T20 Internationals. Buttler reached the landmark when he produced a lightning fast delivery to dismiss Harshit Rana off the bowling of Adil Rashid during India’s innings. The former England skipper quickly gathered Rashid’s googly after Rana charged down the pitch looking for a big hit. Lost on the turn, the Indian batter failed to come back in time when Buttler bailed out suddenly, registering his 100th T20I dismissal behind the stumps.With the feat, Buttler became only the second wicketkeeper in T20I history and the first in England to complete 100 dismissals, joining South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, who tops the list with 117 dismissals.

Abandoned game:

India’s first T20I against England at Chester-le-Street ended in a draw after persistent rain prevented England from starting their chase of 190. After electing to bat, India recovered from 6/2 courtesy of a blistering 59 off 24 balls from Abhishek Sharma and a 68 that included Shreys’ 68. 5,000 international runs. Shivam Dube’s unbeaten 42 off 21 not out provided the finishing touch as India posted 189/7, while Saqib Mahmood starred with the ball for England, claiming 3/33. However, heavy rain after the innings forced the game to be abandoned without a ball being bowled in the England innings.
